The Jewel Shop was established in Geelong, Australia in 1989, and by 1992 our online presence began its journey by Kath, from a desire to create high quality, must-have, timeless jewellery at an affordable price.
Well established in the jewellery world with trade awards from her apprenticeship, and with a million little hopes and dreams as a new trade qualified jeweller Kath began to grow The Jewel Shop Store online, even though way back then when friends and family truly thought she was a crazy person going online, onto the web and into cyberspace. It was hard to imagine way back then what was actually going to happen.
Having access to trade manufacturers and with her industry knowledge the dream started to take flight, ever changing and running with the times, Kath had one guiding light; to make genuine high quality jewellery for everyone and every occasion.
With an emphasis on supporting Australian manufacturers and jewellery suppliers The Jewel Shop became one of the first boutique jewellery stores to go online, launching her first and very purple and pink online store in 30th August 2005, when online shopping was only just finding its feet and maybe even being a little bit scary and bewildering to most people.
Our first website was amazingly successful even with the purple and pink color palette as people explored the world of online shopping.
These first few years were definitely a learning experience that set The Jewel Shop up to become one of the most successful online stores of that time and of course, leading up to today.
With an awesome Google presence backed up by really happy customers and great jewellery, the early years were truly a wonderful time for our humble beginnings.
